Desktop icon

Hi- I've used a couple of programs to install icons on my desktop that I
like. But I want to use a picture (saved in My Docs) of my puppy for my dsl
connection. I can't because I'm told it's not an icon. I've renamed it
odee.ico but that does'nt work. How can I do it?

Use an icon editor to do it properly.

Thanks Alan. The Abbicon Pro 5 from cnet did the job. It's 20mb & a trial
version but I only needed it for one icon.
