Desktop Icon State

I've recently updated my old Win98 OS to Win2000 and I'm in need of
some freeware utility, if there is such an animal, which can save the
desktop icon state on my PC.

Any help / pointers / links would be greatly appreciated.

Try asking in alt.comp.freeware.. You'll get many suggestions...

(Google or just the freeware search at SnapFiles.com is the answer to all
such questions. Hence your points and links and help.)
