I have more than one Desktop folder on my computer. Where generally does the
Desktop folder reside? Is it held in my 'Private' file folder/ or is it an
entity of it's own on the hard drive? I need to know which desktop folder is
the real one and then figure out how to get rid of some of the others. Any
ideas on how I may have ended up with multiple desktop folders? Thanks, bj

Hi,

There are two each user will be concerned with:

C:\Users\<user>\Desktop
C:\Users\Public\Desktop

The first is specific to the user, the latter to all users. If you have a
"desktop" folder on your desktop, then likely it's
C:\Users\<user>\Desktop\Desktop

Thanks Shawn,

Tutorials have helped and I have been able to clean up excess desktop
folders. I may have some new questions regarding folder hierarchy which I'm
trying to figure out. Thanks again. bj
