I accidently placed an unwanted file on my desktop. Can
someone please tell me how to remove it? The file does
not show in window's explorer and the search function
cannot find it.

To delete, right mouse then select "delete".

To remove the mystery of this, this file (along with all the other
desktop icons) are stored in the "Desktop" folder in your peronal
profile. You can see it's location yourself by right mouse click on
start button, then press Explore. It will open by defaultin the Start
menu, but at that same folder level you'll see other personal folders,
including one called "desktop". Look in there and correlate what you
see there what's on your desktop. then this should make better sense to
you. hope this helps.

You can delete it just as you would a file anywhere else:

1. Click on it and press the delete key.

2. Right-click on it and choose delete.

3. Drag it to the recycle bin.
