Desktop Calendar?

Would anyone know how I can place a monthly calendar on my desktop as an
"Active Desktop Item"?
I've saved weather radar maps on my desktop as an active item and it seems
to work okay.

I know there are $$ applications out there that will let you do this type of
thing along with many other features I'm not particularly interested in.

I'm using a DSL "always on" internet connection, so setting the calendar
(desktop item) to update itself every day should not be a problem.

Who maintains a "no-thrill" calendar on their web site that I could use for
free.

I'm using WinXP-Home.

Best regards,

Richard in Va.

Chris and Ronk,
Thanks for the links!
I was really looking for a solution other than a download utility/program to
install.
I guess we all have to make small adjustments even for the "free" things in
life!

Thanks again!

I use Rainlendar. Adds a calendar, a To Do list and Appointments to the
desktop. Can turn off To Do and Appointments so that just the calendar
shows.

Sharon,

I've reviewed the 3 suggestions and I agree that your Desktop Calendar
choice is the best.
I downloaded it and tried it at work today.
I opted for the download without the installer option.
This way I don't have to install anything, just run the exe file to start
the calendar.
"Out-of-the-box" it's setup config is simple enough and I like...
After reading through the user manual, a separate download (pdf file), it is
quite flexible and easy enough to change many of the settings to suite.
Although it is quite small, I haven't figured out how to make it just a
little bigger.
I'll play with it some more tonight if I have time.
But I do like it.

Thanks for the GREAT tip!

Best regards,
Richard in Va.

You're welcome, Richard. Someone (sorry to say that I don't remember who)
suggested the program to me. I liked it too and since using it, don't
hesitate to recommend it to others. If you like good freeware apps, keep an
eye out for Harry Ohrn's posts. He seems to have a knack for finding the
cream of the crop.

What you are wanting to do would reaslisticly requier a http with php
and database server probably hosted on your local computer. I would
recomend you try a program such as the BORG Callender or Mozilla
Calendar.

BORG: http://borg-calendar.sourceforge.net/
Mozilla Calendar: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/

Hello Sparda,

Thank-you for your recommendation.
Based on a quick look-over, the Mozzilla Calendar looks interesting.
These apps do alot more than I need but, a full blown calendar my be good to
have as well.

I've already installed the Rainlendar desktop calendar and am quite pleased
with it. It is vary flexible so I can change settings to suite my taste.
Although it's not really what I was looking for, as it turns out, it does
provide a great
solution.

I will look further into your suggestions this weekend. Maybe I will use one
of these too.

Thanks for your input!

Best regards,
Richard in Va.
