Desktop Arrange

When I select arrange icons by name the end results are "Name within Type"
how can I get the desktop arranged by name only? Microsoft help was no
help, they told me they didn't offer help to applications. I am running
Windows XP Home.

I have used the following for quite some time now..

After right-clicking a blank area on Desktop and highlighting "Arrange Icons
by..." for its list, the only things I marked on it were "Align to grid",
"Show desktop icons", "Lock web items". I then dragged the icons where I
wanted them. As of this posting, they've stayed as wanted.

I also have a question about DT icons.

In Win98 I could simply drag an icon to where I wanted it. In XP I
can't to that. In order to relocated an icon I have to cut and paste
it.
