Desktop\App Internet Content Problem

Hello all, and thankyou for taking the time to read my post,
I have just done a fresh format\install of XP, updating all files...
I tried the IE7 Preview, but unfortunately found too many bugs for my liking
(I'll install it again when these have been repaired...). After downgrading
it, and checking for Updates again (there were none) I noticed an issue - all
content which used an IE window (ie: Link inside an App, or "Update" link on
Desktop etc.) would not work unless I had another IE Window open... (ie: If I
had a window open, the link would open correctly in a new window, but if not,
nothing happened!)
Is there a way I can re-install IE6? This may help...
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated,
Ryan

Hi,
Sorry for the slow response. Sometimes everyone's busy.

From IE> Tools> Windows Update, download and install all Critical Updates.
Several were released yesterday (April 11.)

Then work through the procedure at "If nothing happens" at
http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

If that doesn't work, post back to this thread.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi-
I looked for the type: URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol, but it was not
there...
When creating a new type, it siad URL was already in use (internet shortcut)
and the associated type " HyperText Transfer Protocol " mwas not there... The
closest was "HyperText Template " but i couldnt add it anyway due to the "
already associated file type"... Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ryan

Download and run IEFix: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm
