I am having trouble installing a Scanjet 4P to a new computer running
Windows 98SE. The System shows the scanner as C1130A in the device
manager and the manager says the device is working properly using the
Microsoft provided driver (7-20-1998), but when I try to run the
Deskscan II software an error message appears that says "Unable to
open scanner 1214". The software apparently cannot find the scanner.
I am using an Adaptec 2490AU card. The computer is a new Asus P4P800
with 1 gig memory and a 2.60 Mhz cpu. Per Adaptec's FAQ's, I have set
the card's Initiate Sync Negotiation to "No", Max Sync Transfer Rate
to "5.0 MB/s", Include in BIOS Scan to "No", and Enable Disconnection
to "No".
Thanks, RonW
