Deskjet 5850 USB Pulls thru but wont print

Hello All:

I have a windows 2003 Small business edition server and am attaching to
it thru a Windows XP client with a Deskjet 5850 USB printer.

The printer pulls thru - but all print jobs fail.

I googled & found lots of info. The following potential solutions exist:

2) Download the most recent Remote Desktop client software

3) Update the printer driver on the client.

4) Use expensive 3rd party software.

The HP website shows that the 5850 is certified for terminal services.

Has anybody experienced similar problems ??? What was the solution.

This is the best compatibility list I know of:

which does NOT list your printer, but many DeskJets work with the 550C
driver, which you can map with a user defined inf file:

If this does not work ... move your printer from USB to LPT ...
