DeskJet 540 not working in XP

Please HELP. My HP 540 was working just fine in Windows
98 but now that i am running XP pro it just freezes up.
I have tried to get drivers from hp but they say the ones
i have are up to date. Is there anything that i can do.

I have the same problem with a Designjet 450c. I have
tried the latest driver downloaded from the HP web page,
Tried altering the BIOS settings with the help of DELL
support, had a technician have a look and no solution
yet. Please let me know if you solve the problem.
