Designating a Default Application to Open Phtotos

I installed Olympus Master Software after receiving a gift of a digital camera.

Somehow, this software has made itself the default application for opening
all photos...and it is very slow and cumbersome.

I uninstalled the software, tried to open pictures, and got an error message
that essentially said: "I can't find Olympus Master."

In simple straghtforward English, how do I fix this problem.

I am content to have Microsoft Phot Editor open all my pictures.

Right-click on a picture and "Open With"

Select Photo Editor from the list. Check the "always use etc."

BTW..........I believe MS Photo Editor came installed with older
versions(pre-2002) of MS Office.

Are you sure that's the program you wish to use?

Maybe Windows Picture and Fax Viewer?

Ignore my previous post.

I think I figured out how to do what you said and I think it worked.

Thanks.

Right-click on the icon for the file type in question. Click properties.
Then in the window that pops up, click "Change". Then select desired app
from list, or Browse to the desired app if not in list. Check the box that
says" "always use....."

Maybe my unclear explanation<g>

Open Windows Explorer and browse to your pictures folder.

Right-click on a file(not an open picture) and you should see "Open With" on the
drop-down.

If not, hold SHIFT key and right-click on a picture file.
