Design templates won't load

I recently put PP2003 on my computer and when I try and apply any of the design templates, i.e. ocean, maple etc. I get a message telling me that the design I have chosen "...was not applied. It may not be a PowerPoint presentation". And then it goes on to tell me PP cannot read the design template. What is up with that!

It sounds like there's a good chance that you are running into a known
problem with Office applications and Norton's AntiVirus software.

The Norton AntiVirus plug-in for Microsoft Office scans documents for macro
virus infections in Office products. This plug-in may cause performance
issues, the inability to open files within Office (such as design templates
in PowerPoint), or the inability to install some Office applications.
