Deselect conditional format

Is it possible to deselect 'conditional format' in a
specific cell in order to create a moving highlight of the
cells being currently considered?

Example:
If I have numbers in ROW x that I am averaging from the
right back 6 columns. Can the entries not currently
considered be reverted to normal view?

The formula that you use for calculating the average must include some terms
for determining the range to be averaged. You need to include similar terms
in the formula used in the conditional format.
 
Conditional Format...Formula is...
=OFFSET(C1,,SUM((C1:IV1)-6,6)>0) does not do what I am
expecting.

I have values in C1 to P1 of which K1 to P1 values are
averaged. When I add to Q1 and R1 I'd like the cells
beyond (left of) the six considered to be formatted to
grey text.

Can anyone help in this regard?
