I am attempting to use my Movie Maker program but when I try to import any
video/picture files...I get an error that "Windows Movie Maker has stopped
responding and will be closed." And then i get the DEP error.

I have tried to turn off the DEP for the program but I get "This program
must run with DEP enabled. You cannot turn DEP off for this program"

I can not use System Restore as I have not used this program in over a year
so I don't know why/how this issue occurred.

Any help w/ this problem would be appreciated as I am on a bit of a time
crunch.

Thanks.

WinXP or Vista?

What are the formats of the files you are trying to import?

If....WinXP...are you running IE6, IE7 or IE8?

I use Windows Vista & I just downloaded the IE 8 yesterday. I was having this
problem before that though.

And it doesn't seem to matter about the file formats because I can't even
GET there. As soon as I hit import & the box opens the error comes up.

I wonder what might happen if you simply disable DEP?

Have a look at the following article:

I already tried that and it said that "DEP can not be disabled".

Seems like you tried everything...

Good luck.

what changes have you made recently then?
On one hand you say you've not used the programme for over a year, but then
that this problem was around before instlaling IE8, so when you last used it
over a year ago you had this problem?
If so, maybe a a repair install of windows may help you out.

I'm having this same exact problem, and I can't seem to find any help at all.

I trust the files I'm importing and I know they don't have viruses on them,
so I don't see why DEP needs to be essential to this program's operation.
