Hi troops;).

After installing a Goodmans GSHOT camera and tranferring the pictures I can't open the folder to view them:mad:.
I'm getting the Data Execution Prevention error message when I attempt to open the folder and then it just closes the folder, I'm running SP2, XP Home.

Any advice to allow Explorer to bypass DEP would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Did you get any special software with the camera for transferring to the PC?
Or did the instructions just say plug it into windows, and drag-and-drop?
Is there a option on the camera that encrypts the files?

SP2 uses the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature to help prevent damage from viruses and from other security threats.

 So I would not 'bypass' it just yet, but I do think it is a "progam problem" and not a virus. :D

Some manufacturers just don't have a clue ... ;)

First check to see if the camera 'software' has any updates ... this should be done no matter what software is installed ... always check for updates, even from MS. :thumb:

... the DEP error message will have a Change Settings button. If an update to the program is not available, follow these steps to add an exception for the program from the DEP error message:

Some good info' here on what DEP is for ...

On further searches I find YOU NEED A PATCH for your camera software

:D
