I am getting frequent error messages in the app log to the effect that
'Process MAD.EXE All domain controllers are not responding' Then a list of
domain controllers. One of the listed domain controllers was demoted back to
a member server over a month ago. I see that it still appears in the ADC
'Users and Computers' as a domain controller. How do I correct this? Just
delete it from the 'Domain Controllers' group"?

Thanks in Advance

Marcus,

So, you demoted the DC down to a Member Server via
dcpromo, correct? Did you transfer all of the FSMO Roles
that this DC held, if any, before you ran DCPROMO? Did
you remove the Global Catalog Service from it before you
ran DCPROMO?

IF you did all of these and it still shows up ( a common
occurence ) then take a look at the MS Knowledge Base and
look for METABASE CLEANUP AFTER FAILED DCPROMO. Sorry
that I do not have a direct link to the article. It is
also mentioned at least three times a week in here so
maybe take a quick look in here as well.
