Recently purchased a 128Meg dell USB memory key to use
with a Dell laptop running Win XP professionaal. When
attempting to attach the key to this particular computer,
the hardware wizard starts, and asks for driver
information. In the end, XP returns an problem with
installation since no driver exists.

This type of device is suppose to have native support in
XP, and should require no additional drivers. The key has
been attached to several other XP computers and works just
fine (including identical Dell laptops).

Any suggestions on what could be wrong with my XP
installation on this machine?

Thanks.

You have a Dell computer and a Dell USB memory key.
By chance, have you made an inquiry with the folks at Dell?

Yes,

There E-mail reponse, after reference to several things
that were totally unrelated -- perform clean install of
XP. This is something I really don't want to do.

Thanks.
