I have a resource cd for an Optiplex 170L desktop with all the drivers
& utilities on it. I was going to take it out of its paper sleeve and
put it in a spare hard plastic cd jewel case for safekeeping. I noticed
there
appear to be serial no's on the back like:

DP/M 0TC816
DS/NIE-OTC816-43105-6AW-DDNJ Rev A03

I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me what these mean?

Probably an indicator of what's included in the CD and what version. Here's
the place to ask that question: the Dell Community Forums.

FTR, I also store CDs in something better than their envelope. Whenever I
see something printed on the envelope (usually it's the product key), I just
save the envelope. Don't forget to mark on the envelope what used to be
inside.
