This system runs Win 2K server (with a heavy development
environment) and SQLServer. While it is a server OS the
system is single user (it emulates a client server
environment).
When the system is placed in standby and is brought back
up the sound system is disabled. There seem to be no
conflicts that I can find and the hardware checks out as
OK. When the system is restarted the sound system works
just fine.
Checking the "speaker" control shows that the system is
looks OK but the master balance is biased entirely over to
one channel. Moving the slider does not cause a sound
effect.
This effect started just after a rebuild of the system due
to a disk blowout. There has to be a conflict somewhere
(and I know that standby is flakey with 2K -- but it
always worked well on this machine) so I was wondering if
anyone has seen this before.
Thanks
