Dell Laptop Won't Wake-Up

I have a Dell Latitude CPx H500CT laptop that I just
upgraded from W98SE to W2K.

The problem is that when the power management puts the
system into a standby state, disk drive off, the system
will not respond to any external interrupts. No keyboard
or mouse action will wake it up.

The laptop is not docked, but it has a monitor, keyboard
and mouse attached and is used as a desktop most of the
time. But not even the keyboard or mouse on the laptop
will wake up the system.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the Dell Latitude line of notebooks, but I recall some
notebooks required the use of the power button to awake them from
hibernation.

I have the same problem with my Dell Latitude CPx that's in a dosking
station and hiding behind a KVM switch. Usually no amount of power switch
will do anything better than powering it down 8-(

Other systems on the KVM seem to be mostly OK.

We've had Dell CPx's as well but they are 5 years old and
we no longer use them. From my recolection I can remember
the power button did wake it up but then it shutdown.
Since they were so old we didn't use them with Windows
2000 because we had problems with the Power Management. I
would advise not to put Windows 2000 on those machines.
Hope you get it working.

Since I chnaged the power management to allow for
additional time before it goes quiet, I haven't had any
problems.

Thanks to everyone,
Richard
