legal question

I am a US citizen living in Texas. I visited India on a vacation last
October for 3 months. I purchased a Dell computer from the Dell
website in India using a credit card. I then cancelled the order the
next day. Now I'm back in Texas and after 6 months I still have not
received my refund to my credit card. Dell sent me an email saying
that they cannot refund the money to my credit card and they are going
to send me a check in Indian Rupees to an address in India. Dell
refuses to refund the money to my credit card.

But I am an American Citizen, I want my money in US dollars, refunded
to my credit card. Is there a way I can force Dell to refund my
credit card in US dollars ?

Do not know. But you might want to avoid visiting China since once
again the one-way media is reporting that Google is going to shut
its Chinese website...

Tell them to send it thru your paypal account and let paypal do the
conversion.

Good idea. I have used Paypal for years, and you can use them to deal
with people worldwide.

Why not ask your credit card company?

Are there any restrictions on moving currency across the Indian border ?
Perhaps the cheque is to avoid a run-in with the Indian authorities ?

If you still have contact with people in India, you should ask them
whether there are any issues of that nature.

If you cancelled the order the next day, you should just dispute the charge
through your credit card company.
