Dell Hardware Issue with Windows Vista

I bought a Dell Dimension 9200 with Windows XP MCE in September 2006. I then
bought aa copy of Windows Vista Home Premium to replace XP MCE. I am having
an issue getting the front headphone socket to work (The USB ports in the
panel are fine). The system also locks for about two minutes after the system
has been running for five minutes of so and then one of my DVD ROM drives
drops offline. Dell won't offer support due to the PC being shipped with Win
XP. I have a RAID device and I've changed tried all settings (including
turning the HDD's to non-RAID devices) but the problem still persists.

Sounds like driver issues.
Did Dell advertise this computer as "Vista Capable" when you bought it?
If so, you should remind them of their "promise".
You can also try finding out the make and model of your motherboard chipset
and going to the chipset maker's site (Intel, VIA, NVIDIA, SIS, etc.) to see
if Vista drivers are available.
