Dell tried to use the DELL Connect feature on this E520 Dimension the other
day but a message came up saying blocked something or other and would allow
the DELL connect to carry on. - there was no button to unblock or allow.

Could this have been a windows firewall issue do you reckon or something
else. Even the Dell guy didn't know why the dell connect was blocked and
asked if there was any un-block or allow button showing (there wasn't) so we
couldn't continue with Dell connect feature (where they take control of your
PC). He mentioned going into Internet Explorer tools and un-checking block
popup but of course this didn't work either. I am still thinking maybe
something in the firewall exceptions settings maybe?

Its Vista Home Basic edition by the way.

You just have to Allow Popups.

(There are SOME BEAUTIES on that Dell Chat. Watch them like a hawk. Write
down everything they do so you can tell the supervisor!!!!!)

Ooops . . ,. I see you tried that.

Wasn't there a warning then a Allow Popups From This Site dropdown?

I got an e510, running Business.

Yep I got that yellow bar and allowed that but its when the dellconnect
program tried to run it blocked with a message in a box in the middle of the
screen.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

You are right, they should at least have supplied home premium edition.
Stingy beggars

Andy,
Blocked "Popups" are only blocked when using a browser.
Try posting this question in the "m.p.w.v.security" newsgroup.
It really sounds like a security/firewall question.
Just my 2cents worth.

To me it looked like Vista itself blocked it from running as if the vista
security thing kicked in and though that this is a program that allows
people to hack into the computer and change files and settings and Vista
security was stopping it from running. Rather than a browser issue I reckon.

In Fairness they did supply a DVD ROM called Vista Anytime Upgrade which I
am predicting that if you upgrade your PC at any time then you can use this
disc to (freely??) upgrade from Windows Home Vista Basic to Home Vista
Premium /Business & Ultimate (32 bit editions).
