Dell battery information

In the organisation that i work for we have 350 ish Dell Latitude laptops and
all fall in the bracket for the Dell battery re-call. We have completed some
manual checks and found that some of our batteries are being recalled.
However, i hope that i do not have to check each one and cannot trust eash
user to complete this themselves.

So, i found in the power options under the power meter tab; that if you
click on the battery it brings up the information required. GREAT! But how
can i report on this information and collect it from each machine??? I
checked all through the registry and could not find anything?

Please help so i dont have to check each machine manually????

You will need to remove the battery because the serial number is hidden
inside the computer while the battery is installed.

I removed mine and placed it aside. I seldom need battery power anyway
unless I am going on a trip.

You might check the Bel Arc website www.belarc.com to see if
their network product can detect the battery information on
a laptop. It isn't a free product for your company.

I don't have a laptop to see if the battery serial number is
detected.

How about hiring a high school youngster to do the checking for you. Say a
buck per unit.
 
perhaps it merely interrogates the battery upon your request.

If so, perhaps a utility to interrogate is needed, which can be run for each
laptop Ii assume they connect to the network once in a while?)

just a thought. You might contact Dell and ask them, saying you sure would
hate for there to be any batteries overlooked, that catch on fire, and cause
Dell more grief . . .

They should be able to determine battery serial numbers if you give them
system serial numbers.
When I entered my battery number, the software knew the serial number of my
laptop without input from me.
