Who actually makes this printer and is it capable of wireless
scanning?

I believe Lexmark makes the printer. However, be aware that the
cartridges are proprietary, and may only be purchased from dell.

As for wireless scanning, I don't see how it could do it, but I won't say
no. Mine scans via the USB cable. I pretty much just use the unit as a
scanner and fax.
