I have a friend who has DELL 8200 W/a 40GIG HD She was using it then
shut down; when she tried to reboot it says it can't find the HD. I ran
Ontrack which finds the Drive. But can't see the Partitions. Win98SE
Fdisk sees a 31 meg non-dos part and a 38Gig NTFS Part Can it be fixed
with the WINXP CD??? She doesnt want to lose the work she has on the HD.

I have no experience with XP.

Your friend should stop using her computer, as more data will be lost if the
drive in on the fritz. Install the drive in your computer, as a slave, and
make an image of it using Ghost, Acronis True Image, or similar. Then you
may go about running diagnostics on the hard drive and motherboard.
