So on the right hand side of me monitor about three inches in I have a thin green stripe running from top to bottom of me screen.

What is causing this ??

Have reinstalled graphics drivers --- no change.

This shows up all the time. However I have done screen shots and this does not show up in the captured picture.

Is it me graphics card or a fault on me monitor ?

Does it happen from the moment you turn the PC on, i.e. even in the BIOS? If so it could be either (graphics card or monitor) - I'd try plugging it into another PC to be sure.

If it is the monitor, it should be under warranty (as I think it will be a 3 year one) :thumb:

Blatant monitor prob mate. :(

Thanks I'll try a different monitor and try the monitor on a different pc aswell. Got a four year on site next day warranty so thats not a problem.
I'm of to cry now as me super dooper monitor may be poorly.

:(

Well I finally phoned PC Buyit the site I bought me monitor from. They answered the phone straight away, guess I was lucky there. A very nice chap answered. Gave me all the info I needed and reasured me that the monitor was covered by the 4 year next day on site warranty. Told me that it was a fault that occoured infrequently and that most likely that I would get a replacement monitor probably with a newer model. I was very impressed with the phone conversation.
Am now going to ring the Dell number and see if their service is as good.

Brilliant news :D You'll be back up and running in no time and might even get a free update!

Finnaly got around to phoneing Dell today I was waiting untill I had a full free day for delivery which will be Monday. I must say I am impressed. Spent 4 mins on the phone and they are sending me a new monitor on Monday. Don't know if I will get an upgrade as it all depends if they have my monitor in the warehouse. So I'm keeping me fingers crossed.
Well done to Dell.

If it happens when the new one turns up check your speakers. I had a faulty set of speakers which caused a similar problem on my screen

Thanks shagger my problem is nothing to do with speakers as I have tested it on systems with no speakers attached. Apparently it is a not very common but known fault.

The shocking thing is that Dell will not repair the monitor and the support guy said it will just be junked. What a waste.

I would had thought they would at least try and fix it first before scrapping it. I suppose it might cost to much to fix and its not worth it.

What a waste!

I have the 2407WFP 24" and it's a cracking piece of kit! Worth every penny.

I'd never heard of the green line thing though!

I'm really impressed with Dell customer service! Had a couple of hard drives replaced by them laterly with no questions asked. hp are quite good too.

Probably because it costs them more to repair it than replace it...

Ha ha me monitor arrived this morning. At EIGHT O'CLOCK !!! what sort of ungodly hour is that !!

Stll it all seems to work ok.

The support man was lying about em scrapping the monitors as mine had a sticker on it saying REFURBISHED. I din't really think that they would be scrapped. Quite happy though as I still have three and a bit years left on me warranty.

Well done DELL.

:D
