Over the years I have allowed mis-spellings into my dictionary by clicking the wrong option in the spell checker. How can I review the dictioanry and delete those words which are spelt incorrectly?

Which dictionary ?? A little more info would help us to help you .

Most people will be using MS Word, so ...

Choose Tools / Options, click the Spelling & Grammar tab, and click the Custom Dictionaries button (Dictionaries button in Word 2000).

In the Custom Dictionaries dialog box, select the appropriate dictionary and click Modify to open a dialog box showing the contents of the dictionary.

Scroll down to the word (or type the first few letters in the Word text box to scroll automatically to it), select the word, and click Delete.

Repeat this to delete all the other misspellings in the dictionary, and then click the OK button in each of the open dialog boxes to return to your document.

I'm no expert on PCs - so this is the dictionary which comes as standard with Word. I have looked in the Custom Dictionary file and although there are a few words which I have added which I am happy with, there are many which are not. This file is 'CUSTOM.DIC'. For example I have said at one point 'add to dictionary' in the spell check the word METING which should of course be MEETING. It's this sort of word I want to remove but METING, and many others which I have said 'Add to dictionary' in the spell checker are not in the list of this 1 dictionary
