When I run Nortons Clean Up program some of the Internet
History Files are not deleted. Norton say I need to
delete the Index.dat files - I retrived the following
from Norton Knowledge database:

"Because there is no method for restarting Windows
NT/2000/XP to a DOS command line, this situation is more
complex for those operating systems. Without the ability
to start in DOS, the operating system maintains the file
in an "open" state, preventing its deletion. For this
reason, contact Microsoft customer support for assistance
in removing the Index.dat file in Windows 2000, Windows
NT, and Windows XP."

Microsoft says they can't (won't) help because the OS
came with the computer.

Help - please -- Thanks

Note the path to index.dat file.

If you are using FAT32, bootup with a Windows 98 or ME boot up disk. If you
don't have such bootup disk, get one from www.bootdisk.com

Use the bootup disk to boot to DOS. Navigate to Temporary Internet folder.
Unhide Content.IE5 folder. attrib -h -s -r C:\path\Content.IE5.

Switch to Content.IE5 folder. Delete index.dat file.
