In my \WINDOW\spool\Printers folder there is a file FP00001, 9,330,447 KB in
size. I no longer need it printed. I originally got around the file clogging
my printer by uninstalling/reinstalling the printer, HP Lazerjet 1000 Series.
I want to delete/remove the file. How do I do that?

Stop the spooler service then you should be able to delete the file.
The spooler service can be stopped via the Services management console
or at a command prompt by issuing the following command:

NET STOP SPOOLER

To restart the service after you delete the file issue:

NET START SPOOLER

If you find that you cannot delete the file check that your permissions
on the folder & files are sufficient to allow the operation.

Unless you moved the SPOOL\PRINTERS folder, the folder should be
\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS
not
\WINDOWS\spool\Printers

\WINDOWS\spool\Printers is the path for Windows ME and earlier Windows
versions.

\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS is the path for and Windows NT version,
like XP.

Windows spools print jobs by default to the following directory as the they
are processed:
%SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRINTERS
from...
Default Windows Spool Directory and Permissions
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/137503

For additional information about spool directory permissions for Windows XP,
see the above article.
