deleting "short cuty" files

when I highlight the "short file" (result of internet download) ,and click
delete, the response is "could not find this file", "verify the location and
try again"

I suspect this is a Windows question, so you need to find a Windows group.
This is a .NET programming group.
To find the group you need...

As you appear to be using a web interface:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

Click the + beside your language. then scroll down to Windows. In Windows,
find the category for your version of Windows. Open it and find a group for
your question.
