deleting sends to safe mode

When I delete old emails including sent/received emails and also from the
deleted folder from OE v6 my PC goes to safe mode, using Winxp sp2.
any thoughts on how to sort this.

Define "safe mode" for us.
Do you mean the computer shuts down and reboots into the safe mode? It will say safe mode in all
four comers.
Do you mean the computer goes into a low resolution mode that looks like the safe mode?
Provide as much of a description as to what happens as possible.
Remember we can see your computer.

It goes to a low resolution mode that looks like safe mode. I then reboot to
get back normal screen. Sometimes there is a message to say there has been a
major error but not always.
