I was just wondering what the consequences were for deleting programs
pre installed on my computer. For instance, I have Mozilla Firefox
(yess!) but my computer cam pre-installed with all this AOL crap. I was
going to delete it but when i did a warning came up that saide if i
deleted this then some of my other programs might not work. Is there
any programs that rely on AOL that would make me NOT want to delete AOL
on my computer? The only thing I can think of that might be affected is
"AIM Triton". Are there any others? What would happen?

Never having had AOL, the only thing I can think of is something like AOL
Instant Messaging or custom toolbars. What I do offer is the suggestion
that you set a restore point, delete the AOL crap, reboot and check things
out. If something is awry, you can always revert. AOL in quite invasive,
it may take some "doing" to get it all out......like a manual regedit. I'm
sure some AOL users will be along shortly to help guide you through the
removal, plus, you could do a Google/Google Groups search on "AOL
uninstall".....there should be lots of info on that one.

Of course not. When you buy an OEM machine (HP, Dell, Toshiba) the box
is filled with cr*p preinstalled by the OEM. There is no problem in
uninstalling third-party programs that you don't want, like AOL. If
there is some question about whether a program is third-party or from
the OEM, you can always Google the name of the program to be sure.

No, if you don't use AOL, there's nothing wrong with deleting (actuially
uninstalling) it, and that's exactly what you should do.
