I have several pictures stored in "temporary" files in MS
Windows Explorer. When I try to delete the files, I get
the normal message asking if it is okay to send the
files to the "Recycle" bin. I click yes, but instead of
the file disappearing, it appears as though additional
copies are made and renamed "Shortcut to" ... whatever
the file name was..

I now have a huge "temporary" file, and don't know how to
solve the problem. Thank you in advance for any help you
can offer!

Go to the IE icon on the desktop and right click it.

Go to "Properties"
On the General tab go to "Delete files"
Tick the box "delete offline files"
Press OK

the check if it works.
