I have installed fromt he origninal CD all the software on a new laptop and
then transfered the data files. Everythign went fine.

Outlook comes with a defalut folder called Personal Files. I would like to
remove it since I do not use in and it is completly void of any data.

However, I see no way to delete it. Additionally, if I try to close it, I
get an error "This operation failed, object could not be found".

I have looked at MS support, and they talk of such things as uninstalling
and reinstalling outlook, which if that is the only answer, it doesn't
borhter me that much.

Is there an easier way to get rid of it? Its corresponding .PST file does
still exist exist.

Nowhere has uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook ever been suggested as a
solution to this very common problem.
This problem is caused by migrating your data incorrectly and corrupting
your profile. We have no idea what you did wrong since you didn't post what
you did, but "everything" did NOT "go correctly."
Answers to this question are posted here daily. Create a new profile from
scratch and migrate data correctly this time. The Help files and the
countless posts here on this subject will tell you how. We can't post the
correct instructions because you did not provide any information on your
Outlook version.

Using outlook 2003 with latest upgrades...
I did migrate all data from the old computer to a fresh installation of
Outlook on the new computer. That all went fine. Non of the older data
uses the "personal files" pst nor folder locations; it seems to be there via
default on a new installation.

It is empty, no data, in a folder not used, so how do I get rid of it?

Right-click>Close will close an unused PST. If you can't close it, then
either the PST is NOT unused as you presume, or your mail profile is
corrupt.

Unless you are running against Exchange Server, Outlook always uses a PST
file. The empty one is the one Outlook creates by default anytime you start
a new profile.
Again, how you migrated your data remains a mystery. Since we can't read
minds, you must tell us what you did. If you did it correctly, all you need
to do is R click and close the empty PST file.
