Deleting old appointments...OL03

Hello

I have literally thousands of appointments (the little calendar icon) in my 'Deleted Folder'
Is there a way to delete these enmass with a click or two as opposed to individually

I've tried 'advanced find' to do this to no avail

right click, empty deleted? or sort by the icon field to group them
together, then select one, hold shift and select the last one.

Did you choose appointments in the Look for drop down in advanced find
(change it back to deleted folder)
