Hi everyone,

Hope someone can help - I've moved form my office and am now working
from home, but I'm having problems setting an old office machine onto
a network I want to set up here using my home PC as well.

I use the XP Network Setup Wizard, all names are as they should be,
workgroup name is fine but they can't see each other.

Can I delete the old network details and start afresh, or am I perhaps
( almost certainly ! ) screwing something up from my end?

Thanks,

Dave.

Dave,

Make sure that the ip address assigned to the client machine and the office
machine are on the same subnet.

example:

client machine: 10.0.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Office Machine: 10.0.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

If the above is true, then try pinging the office machine from the xp
machine using the ping command:

open command prompt

type: ping <ip address of office machine> and see if you get any replies
back
