deleting messages from deleted file

I try to delete messages from my deleted messages file, but when I say yes I
permanetly want to delete and window pops up and says "an unknown error has
occured" and I can't delete them at all. Please help!

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista

It also works on other folders.
