deleting links folder

Is there a way I can permanently delete the Links folder
from Favorites? I don't want it and all the "links" have
been deleted so it's an empty folder. I delete it and it
just keeps coming back. It's not a big deal, I'm just
getting really sick of seeing it after I've already
deleted it.
 
Just turn it off. It will stay in the drop down menu
but will not be visible on the toolbar. Ignore it.
 
As you have learned it cannot be deleted.
You may however change the properties to Hidden.
 
TweakUI to the rescue.... Or at least, I think that's how I got rid of my
"Links" folder.

Open TweakUI, select Explorer on the left, and uncheck "Show Links folder on
Favorites" in the scroll box.
