deleting items that copy themselves

I have been trying to send items to the recycle bin (jpeg images that I saved
from the internet). I highlighted the items then right clicked and then
clicked on delete and before it sent the item to the recycle bin it made a
copy and replaced the deleted item in the same folder. I also tried edit,
select all and then delete but, when I did that the computer froze up for
about 30 seconds and than the program was not responding. I can only assume
that this is due to some sort of file protection and am hoping that this is
something that I can turn off.

All renamed as "copy of ..."? If so, you wiggled your mouse just a
little before right clicking. See

to prevent a recurrence.

Many thanks to Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, for his answer to my question. I
bookmarked the page and I am sure it will prove to be quite helpful because
there are many things that I need to learn about XP and I can get most, if
not all my info right from that page.

Happy I could help.

But I don't want to take _too_ much credit. My own list of tips is
very short compared to what all is out there. :-)
