I have far too many items under Desktop>>My Documents>>
My Pictures.

When I select them for deletion and delete them,
they don't delete.....they just keep making Copy No. 2
and 3 and 4 ..... Now I have 3 times or 4 times far
too many pictures.

I can't just delete the My Pictures folder...it has some
..ini files there, for some reason....

Help!

You can't delete the My Pictures directory because it's a system folder. As
for the multiple copies when trying to delete:

Are you trying to delete by dragging the files to the Recycle Bin? If yes,
this problem usually occurs because the hand isn't quite as steady as one
would want. You're moving the files slightly as you drag and that is
creating the extra copies.

First lower the sensitivity of your mouse from the Mouse applet in Control
Panel. Then change the way you delete. Either select files and then
right-click>Delete or select files and use File>Delete. To select multiple
contiguous files, highlight the first file in the series and then hold down
the Shift key and highlight the last file in the series. All your desired
files will be highlighted. Then use the right-click or File menu deletion
procedure. To delete non-contiguous files, hold down the Ctrl key as you
select.

Thank you, Mal.....It's not mouse sensitivity and shaking because
I don't do the drag bit. What I've been doing is highlight a series of
files, while holding the Ctrl key down. Then I right click, the
menu appears, I click on Delete and I THINK the pictures have
been deleted, but instead, multiple copies are generated.

I haven't tried your first-and-last file suggestion yet.

In the folder are 100 or so, and one .ini file which I
assume should be left there. But if not, is there a way
to delete everything in the folder?

OKAY! Your procedure of highlighting first and then Shift etcetera,
highlighted all, and File>>Delete deleted all.....the .ini files
we outside that sequence so they stayed. Thank you very much.

Glad to hear that sorted it for you. Thanks for taking the time to let me
know.
