Deleting Folders

One of the most irritating situations with Win XP is after deletion of a
sub-folder and it's contents, XP won't allow deletion of the damned main
folder. Of course I can reboot and then delete it but why do I have to
go to all of that rigmarole?

I know others have had the same problem but have never seen a simple
solution to solve this dilemma once and for all.

With Win98 this situation would occur occasionally if the deleted
folders or files were still in the recycle bin but once it was emptied
the folders could be deleted with no problem.

I am the only user on this machine and I should be the boss, especially
when I am not trying to delete system files or programs or generally
screwing things up.

I have owned and used computers since 1983 and have used machines
running under DOS and nearly every version of Microsoft Windows.

If anyone out there has experienced frustration with this problem and
can offer some solutions, please reply to the forum.

"How do I delete an "undeletable" file?"

Possible clues there.

You cannot delete the folder as you left clicked on it. left click on
another folder, then right-click on the folder that you want to delete
and select delete. It drives me nuts, but that is the way I have found
to deal with it...no reboots required at all.

Thanks...I will give it a try next time the situation arises. I learn
something new about XP every week. It's not a bad OS but it some
weirdness in some of the procedures. Oh well, it is better than MSDOS.
