deleting files

My experience is that if it isn't broken, don't fix it. Fiddling
around trying to remove unwanted files or folders might result in
deleting DLL files and then problems arise.

Related to this is that all of my games and accessories have been
erased. Anyone know why I cannot restore these folders using the XP
installation disk? I'll try and then get messages saying such and such
a folder cannot be found.

It would be helpful if you could post exact error messages and the steps to
produce them. It can be very difficult to guess what's on your screen.

How are exactly you trying to "restore" whatever games and accessories
you're referring to? Generally the best way to "restore" the accessories
and games is to go to Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, and click on the
Add/Remove Windows Components tab. From there, you should be able to to
just select what you want to add. Note that de-selecting items will cause
them to be removed.
