Deleting Files

I need some help. I don't know that this is the right forum but since I was
told it is a Windows thing I'll take a shot and maybe I'll get lucky.

I'm running XP Home and recently installed Acronis True Image, a popular
backup utility that I use to back up to an external hard drive. When opening
Acronis to make a backup, a list of all previous backups appears so you can
pick one to add an incremental backup. I deleted all the old backups but one
from the external drive but Acronis still lists all. They can't be used to
access such backups because they are no longer on the external drive and so
I want to delete them but can't get this to happen. I even uninstalled and
reinstalled Acronis figuring for sure they would disappear but they still
show up.

I have been told that this is a Windows thing and that Windows is holding on
to these files and showing them in Acronis and that somewhere in Windows is
a way to delete them. I have deleted all temp files and run Crap Cleaner but
to no avail. Anyone have any ideas on this? TIA Stan

You Know Who ~

it's not really a windows thing, its an Acronis thing which placed the names
of those backups into your windows registry.

What you said about the registry got me thinking so I used System Restore to
go back to before I had installed Acronis and that solved my problem. Many
Thanks for your help. Stan
