If I do a clean up of "my documents" on my computer, and delete and re
organize a great many images in various file folders, will this foul up paths
for the images in front page for my website, or does front page keep a copy
itself just for the website?

As long as you have your web open on your machine FrontPage will keep track of things you move around.

When you're done reorganizing/spring cleaning..do a Recalculate Hyperlinks.

As long as all content is within the web and you use FP to move the content, then you should have no
problem, unless the items are referenced in your page via scripts.

Doing a clean-up using Windows Explorer is fine. Just don't touch anything
in your web folders.
To move files within your web folder, do this only in FrontPage. It will
track the move and update accordingly.
FrontPage should NOT be looking for files outside of it's root web.

How did you delete this folder from your web, and are you publishing via FP's http mode to a server
that has the FP extensions using the Change Pages only option?

Thomas,
In FrontPage, I selected the folder, and Delete from File pull down menu. On
the remote website publishing properties, yes "changed pages only" is
selected. I do not know the answer to your question about how our website is
being published - how do I determine this? This is the location of website
from FP program ..aqdomain2\inetpub\wwwroot- does this tell you anything?

Thomas,
It looks like our remote web site is selected as "FrontPage or SharePoint
Services" (The Remote Web server supports FrontPage Server Extentions or
SharePoint Services).

Not sure why, but you can open the live/remote site directly in FP, then delete the folder.

Thomas,
I'm not sure we have a remote website - there's no remote site address
listed on remote website tab. The folder I deleted is no longer visible at
FP. Is there a way for me to determine from what source the internet is
recognizing the address www.aquadyne.com/acatalog/index.html ?

In FP2000 if you delete a folder from the local web, it (and its
contents) will not be deleted from the remote web when published,
however, if the contents of the folder is deleted, the corresponding
files will be deleted from the remote site on publishing. I am not
sure if this still applies to FP2002 or FP2003.

FP2000 will also sometimes delete the folder on the remote server as well.
