Deleting files or folders

When I delete anything from my desktop, it does not leave the screen! I can
find it in the recycle bin, but until I right click & hit refresh, it stays
on my desktop!! Any ideas? HP laptop...WinXP Home SP2

Try F5, which is a lot quicker than the right-click. Try these possible
