Man... is it my imagination, or has deleting files become an unbeliebably
complex endeavor? Just delete the effin' things, OK?

I can't stand downloading things...

Information bar > download dialog > save dialog > downloading dialog >
copying to folder >
saving to disk > download complete dialog...

Pppffft! Get a grip! Just let us know when the download's done and thats
it!!

Sorry... was on the road this past week... don't know if you'll get this...

But... I think it's more than just the confirmation dlg's... I'm trying to
delete the windows.old folder, and, granted, it's 25GB's... but it takes
for, and I mean, for-evvvvver to delete it and it actually throws errors and
doesn't complete the delete.

LOL... yeah, man!

Same here.
My typical workflow ends up being something like:
1. Select files/folders and hit Shift+Del (trying to delete, not recycle)
2. "Are you sure you want to PERMANENTLY delete...?" -> "Yes" and "Provide
administrator credentials" -> "Repeat my answer" checkbox and "Continue",
then confirm in the "Account Control" dialog.
3. As it starts deleting: "File does not exist. Do you want to create it?"
If "No", nothing is deleted. So, "Yes"+"Repeat my answer".
4. A short time later: "Item no longer present at this location. Confirm
and retry." "Try Again" does nothing, so "Skip"+"Repeat my answer".
5. More often than not, there will also be a "Folder not empy, cannot
delete" dialog, where I have to select "Skip"+"Repeat my answer".

End result: after selection, keypress, at least 8 mouse clicks and, frankly,
an inordinate amount of time, a small percentage of all the files selected
for deletion end up in the RECYCLE BIN. Emptying the Recycle Bin follows the
exact same steps and takes multiple tries, as does copying or moving files to
a different folder.

Not good

To get around some of those 'Account Control' boxes, press the windows key-,
then type in 'msconfig' then go to the 'Tools' tab, then click on 'Disable
UAP' and then the 'Launch' button in the right hand corner and then restart
your machine. That might help

Thanks for the suggestion, Tom. I'll probably end up doing that sooner
rather than later.
Right now, I don't mind the intentional extra security, though it seems like
a bit of an overkill - what bugs me are the messages and dialogs that
shouldn't be there, plus the fact that file manipulations don't work properly.
