In window explorer, the file name still exist after deleting the file ( the
file is confirmed to be deleted as it cannot run anymore). After rebooting
the file name did not appear in window explorer. How can I fix it? My system
is window XP professional SP2.

System Restore is one option. Look up System Restore in Help and Support.
That is assuming you want the deleted file back...
And, if you have sent the file to the Recycle Bin, it would be faster to
restore the file from there.

Try deleting and then pressing F5 or use View> Refresh to update the view.

2 possibilities

1. check the recycle bin

2. download the trial of r-studio 2.0 (this program saved my life). It will
do a magnetic scan of your disk. It is qute good and recovers well

Hope that helps
