Try right-clicking on your Deleted items folder.....

Or you could try highlighting the deleted items folder and go to
Tools....several ways really. Did you REALLY try very hard to find this out?

Or of course there's fairly comprehensive instructions in how to "empty the
Deleted Items" folder in OUTLOOK HELP..........

And just what happened when tried to delete those items? The Deleted
Items folder obviously doesn't hold any deleted items since you can
still access them. It is a holding folder, just like any of other
folder.

All that professed research and yet you didn't even bother to try
deleting anything.

My appologies
I did not explain myself well at all being too close to my problem.

I would like to delete the earlier e mails without haveing to select each in
dividual one.

My bucket is full but I do not want to empty it fully only upto a certain
date
so that I have the remainder for possible reference.

Sort them by date, newest on top.

Find the most recent one that you want to delete and highlight it
using your mouse.

Scroll down the view to the bottom of the list.

Hold your SHIFT key and use your mouse to highlight the last entry.

If you did it right, every email you want to delete should be
highlighted.

Can you take it from here?

Uncle Grumpy gives a good explanation, but your statement here begs a
question: why are you keeping items you might want to keep in the Deleted
Items folder?

Sort the list of items by date. Then all the old ones will be
together. Just click on the first one and Shift+click on the last one
to select those and everything in between and then hit the Del key.

You might also consider using auto-archiving to permanently delete
items over some number of days in age. Enable the global auto-archive
function. Set it to run at an interval that is less than or equal to
the smallest interval you set for auto-archiving in a folder;
otherwise, for example, if you set the global archiving to occur every
10 days but a folder is set to archive every 2 days then items become
*eligible* for archiving after 2 days old but they won't actually get
archived until the 10-day interval when the archiving function
executes. Then go to the properties of a folder and enable
auto-archiving on it and set how many days before old items get
permanently deleted. I set the global auto-archiving to occur every 1
days (so I don't have to figure out the minimum interval set for any
particular folder), and set the local auto-archiving on the Deleted
Items folder to permanently delete after 30 days.

Strange place to keep items. Wonder if you keep your personal belongings in
a trash can :-)

My aunt does. It's her house. An indoor trash can. Crap everywhere,
and I mean CRAP.
