Could someone please tell me how to delete all the records from an excel97
(W98) database that match the current search criteria. There used to be a
Delete option under the Data menu but apparently no longer. Thank you.

I'm not quite sure what current search criteria is (the current Edit|Find??).

But if you apply data|filter|autofilter to your range, you can filter on a
column and just show the rows that meet your criteria.

Then you can select that visible range and Edit|delete.

(Oooh. Maybe that's the delete you were thinking of!)

No, actually there used to be a Data|Delete as well as an Edit|Delete.
Data|Delete was used with database operations. Database operations can
still be performed by naming a List as "Database" and filtering it by
means of a criteria range. Your solution is via the means of the newer
filtered list approach. I just wondered if the old Data|Delete command
was still available. (Probably in Visual Basic there is a command
equivalent to XLM's DATA.DELETE, but apparently there is no longer a menu
option. Thanks for your reply

Sorry I couldn't help. (I don't recall this (Data|Delete), but I'm getting
pretty old. There's lots of stuff I don't recall!)

Ahem. I meant to say she was much more mature than I am--not older. (It's
true, but I didn't mean to say it!)
